As CEO of BOAZ Enterprises and BOAZ Entertainment LaTonya J. Pegues a native of Colorado now residing in Austin, Texas brings a wealth of experience and non-traditional solutions to her BOAZ Enterprises clientele. Boaz, a Hebrew word means Strength is within him. After working in the aerospace and telecommunications industries in a variety of positions; including satellite and missions engineer, low-temperature physics researcher, and communications/ PR expert, she founded and started BOAZ Enterprises a training, consulting, and communications firm in the year 2000. Under her leadership, BOAZ Enterprises has provided services for clients in Africa, Asia, Europe, and throughout North America.
Current and previous clients include Google, BET, InterRep, Verity, Gospel-Centric, ALEHO Records, Chase Home Finance, Target, various City and County municipalities, State governments, the Housing Authority of the City of Austin, International County/City Management Association (ICMA), NASA, the Commonwealth Of the Bahamas, and numerous others.
She is an NAACP Community Service Award, Winner. In addition to BOAZ Enterprises and Entertainment, she is also known as “The Unconscious Bias Trainer,” which involves helping people recognize ordinary simple actions that consistently hurt people we interact with on a daily basis through stereotypes, a cultural bias which influence our behaviors.
This training is not only for the Corporate arena, but LaTonya does Unconscious Bias Training with Police Departments, Transportation, and Housing Associations. She was invited in 2018 to be a keynote speaker at South by Southwest (SXSW) on Unconscious Bias. South by Southwest is one of the largest Film, Media, and Music Festival that takes place annually in Austin, Texas with over 150,000 in attendance. Her session was one of the top ten searched sessions in the interactive festival that year.
In addition, she was an Unconscious Bias panelist during the National Diversity Council Conference where President Barack Obama, and General Colin Powell gave keynote addresses.
With all Latonya does you would think that she has a great staff assisting her, but she is a one-woman entity who has multi-tasking down to a science.
LaTonya was one of the Recording Academy members to pioneer a new Gospel Music category for the Grammy’s where Gospel Singles would be considered for nomination as an entire project. This was groundbreaking for the category of Gospel Music.
She is a founding member of the Stellar Awards Gospel Music Academy and is co-host to a daily Gospel Music radio show in Los Angeles. She continues to have airtime as a guest radio talk show host and does commercial voiceover work. She was a Gospel Entertainment writer for Canadian based Gospel City Publication.
She is a graduate of the Essentials Class of Leadership Austin and is an alumna of Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business in Executive Education, in association with Google, where she received her Digital Excellence Program Certification.
LaTonya is a proud graduate of Howard University, based in Washington, D.C, where she studied physics and mathematics. She was a National Institute of Health-funded Minority Access to Research Careers scholar, who conducted scientific research in the laboratory, presented her work, and made presentations at Physics conferences including at Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her hobbies include, photography, international travel, water sports, and listening to live music.
